Ho'oponopono is an ancient technique originating in Hawaii. It means to "correct" or "make it right". What you are doing when you use this technique is taking full responsibility. It originally was created as a group based ritual to solve community problems. Then in the late 1970's, the late Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona took Ho'oponopono and updated it. It can now be used by individuals rather than in a collective or group ceremony.
“If we can accept that we are the sum total of all past thoughts, emotions, words, deeds and actions and that our present lives and choices are colored or shaded by this memory bank of the past, then we begin to see how a process of correcting or setting aright can change our lives, our families and our society.” - Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona
Ho'oponopono is an extremely easy technique used to solve problems that we may have carried with us for many lifetimes. It is a spiritual practice, said to release emotional baggage from our subconscious minds. It cleans and resets the mind, leaving it free and open to positive influences and thoughts.
Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len Ph.D. studied under Morrnah and continued where she left off. He says that you only have to remember one thing in life, "Peace begins with me". The first thing that we all must do to bring peace to the world is bring peace within ourselves. Only by changing ourselves can we change the world.
It is said that Dr. Len cured a complete ward of criminally insane patients, without ever seeing any of them. Other psychologists were quitting on a monthly basis, because of the dangers of working with these people. Dr. Len would study their charts, in a private office and look within himself to see what created that person's illness. As he improved himself, the patient improved. Suddenly patients that had been shackled were allowed to walk freely. Others were getting off their medications. The staff began to come back. He said, "I was simply healing the part of me that created them". Dr. Len explains that "total responsibility for your life means that everything in your life, simply because it is in your life, is your responsibility". This actually means that terrorists, the government, your neighbor, anything that you don't like is your responsibility. It's in your life. You have to heal yourself, love yourself and heal your life.

It's the simplicity of Ho'oponopono that is really amazing. For example, if your hurt or annoyed by someone, just keep saying, "I'm sorry, I love you. I'm sorry, I love you". It's as simple as that.
What can you "clean"? You can clean anything. Your health, your wealth, your circumstances, anything. When it comes to other people and circumstances outside of us, we are cleaning our perception. Again, it's all about vibration. You are constantly vibrating and by using Hooponopono you raise your vibrational energy to a higher frequency, attracting more like things on that same frequency. You can "clean" those limiting beliefs that are keeping you from attracting what you desire.
The full, 4 phrase mantra is: I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you. Say it silently anytime you need to. You can also change it around if it fits the situation better. You can say I'm sorry first and I love you last, it doesn't matter.
The first thing that you need to do is identify the problem. Remember that it's your perception of the problem, within you. Then ask yourself the cause. One example may be that you're having pain. You might say....
Like I said, it's the simplicity of it that's amazing.
